Dr. Ronan Glynn has said that there are currently three "national priorities" as Ireland continues its battle with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking yesterday, Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ronan Glynn said that Ireland as a society should focus on three national priorities. Days after spikes in Covid-19 cases saw
new restrictions placed on the counties of Kildare, Offaly and Laois, Dr. Glynn said that the three national priorities are:
- Protecting public health and the most vulnerable
- The resumption of non-Covid health services
- The reopening of schools
Addressing the public, Dr. Glynn said that "every time you choose to avoid a crowd, keep a two-metre distance, wash your hands, wear a face covering and use the Covid Tracker App, you are making a vital contribution to this shared national effort."
It is hoped that schools across the country will reopen at the end of August and the next review surrounding phase 4 is expected on August 31. However, the Government is now planning to replace Ireland's roadmap phases with a new colour-coded system as outlined
here.
Yesterday, the Department of Health reported 35 new cases of Covid-19 and one further death.
