Donegal has become the first county to join Dublin on risk level 3 of the Government's Living with Covid plan.
Last night, it was confirmed that Donegal will be placed into risk level 4 of Covid-19 restrictions after the four-day incidence of the disease in the county rose significantly yesterday. Donegal will remain in level 3 until October 16 at least, which is seven days after Dublin's level 3 status is due to end.
The restrictions in Donegal are the same as the ones in the capital, with social visits to homes limited to six people from one other household and no organised indoor gatherings allowed to take place. Weddings will be limited to 25 people, however, those that are scheduled to take place this weekend can go ahead with 50 people.
One difference is that so-called 'wet pubs' in Donegal will be allowed to stay open, although only with a maximum of 15 people who must be seated outdoors. People are also encouraged not to leave the county, except for essential purposes. A full outlook of what level 3 involves can be found

The Covid-19 situation is now being closely watched in six other counties, namely Cork, Galway, Louth, Waterford, Wicklow and Kildare. People in these areas are being urged to follow public health advice and Taoiseach Micheál Martin has said 'to be honest, we could have similar announcements for other areas in the coming week, if the numbers keep rising.'
