The couple, who met on holidays in 1999 celebrated their 20 year anniversary on November 4 2022.
Daniel and Majella marked the occasion with a small family gathering at their home in Kincasslagh, Donegal (which is famously open plan since Dermot Bannon had his way with it on Room to Improve back in 2018). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyqqTtYEb8k Sharing the news of the celebration on Facebook, Daniel wrote:After a wonderful 20 years of marriage, Majella and I renewed our vows with a small family gathering tonight at our home in Donegal.Daniel also shared pictures of himself and Majella, surrounded by smiling family.
Speaking to magazine before Christmas about the key to their happy marriage, Daniel said:
Thousands of well wishers took to the comments section to congratulate the couple, with Father Ray Kelly of Britain's Got Talent fame writing:We get on great with one another — that’s not to say we don’t bicker away. I don’t know what we’ve learned about marriage, other than that we respect one another. Getting married when we were older and not having young children was a factor.
Lovely as it is to have children, there is a pressure that comes with them. It can be a struggle and hard work and we didn’t have that.
