Dublin Hospital Appeals For Help To Fight Childhood Illness This Christmas

As most of us are making plans to spend Christmas with our families, childhood illness is keeping babies away from their homes this festive season.

Childhood illness in all its forms is persistent, indiscriminate, and often devastating. At any one time, there are up to 25,000 children who are acutely ill in Ireland and requiring medical care or treatment.

Quite simply it’s not a fair fight - childhood illness takes too much.

Of the 5,000 babies born over the next month, about 100 will need our help to fight and survive.

Some of them will have to fight from their first breath. Others will need medical treatment, hospital stays over Christmas, and surgeries in their first months of life. Some will battle acute illness throughout their childhood.

Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin is seeking to change this - and has launched the Tiny Hearts Christmas appeal to encourage companies to do #whateverittakes to help sick children this Christmas.

They are encouraging organisations to join parents, doctors, nurses, and scientists and step up to help sick children fight childhood illness by choosing a donation that's right for them.

There are a number of 'Heart Packages' that companies can choose from and all donations will support Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and the National Children’s Research Centre.

Day after day their staff do whatever it takes to deliver extraordinary care, transformative treatment, early diagnosis, cutting-edge technology, support and hope to Ireland’s sickest children and their families.
