Anonymous Businessman Pays Costs For Irish Teen To Be Sent Home After Car Accident

A kind-hearted businessman has stepped in to cover the air ambulance costs for Irish teen, Jay Hamill, who was struck by a car in Salou last week.

The Hamill family had been fundraising for the £19,000 needed to fly Jay home to Belfast.

The 19-year-old has a broken leg, pelvis and a hairline fracture in his neck.

They had raised over £8,000 on a GoFundMe page when their insurance wouldn't pay out, but a businessman has stepped in to cover the costs after he saw a news report about the family's attempts to raise money.

According to Belfast Live, his brother Ryan has said the donor wants to remain anonymous but the family are extremely grateful.

"We as a family are relieved as a businessman who wants to remain anonymous saw the news report last night and has paid for the air ambulance that will transport Jay back home.

"Doctors are now working to secure him a bed in the Royal hospital.

"We want to thank everyone who came together and donated money. All the money raised will be given to this kind man who has helped our family out big time.

"We would also like to thank (Councillor) Paul McCusker for what he has done for us, it’s been amazing.

"He’s the one who got me on the news where the businessman felt touched and thought he needed to do something.

Ryan said the family will give the GoFundMe money to the businessman to say thank you.
