Hailo Will Soon Disappear Off Irish Phones, Following Its Takeover By A German Company

The Hailo brand will soon be no more in Ireland, as the popular taxi app announced its takeover by German car giant Daimler.

As part of the deal, Hailo will merge with mytaxi – a Hamburg-based app which is also owned by the same parent company – and operate under that brand.

However the change isn't expected to affect passengers or drivers in Ireland, as country manager for Ireland Tim Arnold explained to Fora:

“There will be no immediate changes for passengers or drivers, over the coming months we will communicate how the migration will happen.”

Hailo, which was founded in London and began operating in Ireland four years ago, will rebrand all of its global services by mid-2017.

The new merged entity will be headed up by Hailo CEO Andrew Pinnington, and is expected to provide some more muscle to fight the domineering forces of Uber.
