It was one of our favourite little rituals on every Aer Lingus flight.
You know how it goes for every flight on Aer Lingus.
You get to the airport. Go through security. Hang around the terminal for your flight to be called. Queue up to board. Stow your carry-on baggage. Sit down and get comfy and internally debate whether you made the right decision in asking for your aisle / middle / window seat. And then, once take-off has commenced, take out the in-flight Cara magazine.
Filled with everything from celebrity interviews, to things to do in specific European cities, to deals for stuff to buy while on the flight, it was a great little freebie that was a part of our Aer Lingus flight ritual, so it is sad to hear that due to the blow to the travel industry caused by COVID, the airline have decided to discontinue the magazine.

"Aer Lingus’s in-flight magazine, has ceased publication due to the collapse in airline travel. The glossy publication had a potential readership of well over a million for every issue, and the costliest advertising rates of any Irish magazine.
"It was put on hiatus last summer, but Aer Lingus confirmed last week that publication had now been suspended. Three jobs have been lost. There are no plans to create an online version."
The article states that 28.3 million passengers passed through Dublin airport in the first 10 months of 2019, and that dropped to 6.9 million in 2020.
Hopefully, with
Ireland expecting to receive 9,000,000 doses of the COVID vaccine in early 2021, it could mean a return to the norm of travelling before too long.
