Actress and comedian Caroline Aherne has died at the age of 52, following a battle with lung cancer.
Her publicist confirmed the news today.
She was best known for her roles – both on camera and behind the scenes – in The Royle Family, The Fast Show and Mrs Merton. She was also the narrator of Gogglebox, alongside frequent collaborator Craig Cash.
Tributes have already begun to appear after the news was announced this afternoon.
