Yes, folks, Electric Picnic 2020 has been cancelled.
Organisers have today confirmed the news that we all knew was coming - that Electric Picnic will not go ahead this September. And while we may have been expecting such an announcement, we're a little bit devastated all the same... ok a lot bit devastated.
Updating ticket holders on Twitter, organisers released a statement that reads:
"Sadly, Electric Picnic 2020 will no longer be taking place.
Cancelling our festival has become unavoidable, and we fully support the Irish Government's ongoing measures to help fight the spread of Covid-19 and protect lives at this time.
Whilst the entire Electric Picnic team are terribly disappointed, we have a responsibility to all our fans, artists, crews, suppliers, sponsors, partners and our entire Electric Picnic family including the wonderful people of Stradbally who have welcomed us into their community each year."
Organisers went on to thank everyone for their continued support and for making the festival "such an amazing event".

Ticket refunds will be available from Ticketmaster or the original point of purchase - customers can also opt to retain their ticket for next year if they'd prefer.
"If you prefer, for ease, you can retain your ticket and carry it over to next year; you don't have to do anything."
This follows after
Rage Against The Machine, one of the acts confirmed for a headline performance at the festival this year, confirmed that they'd be postponing all of their upcoming tour dates.
