Gardai are investigating the discovery of a body of a man found in Carlow, The Irish Independent reports.
It's understood that the man may have died of hyperthermia after the recent freezing temperatures caused by Storm Emma.
The discovery of the man's body comes just hours after Leo Varadkar reiterated his comments that people may be found dead in their homes this week.
Speaking on RTE One's Morning Ireland, he said:
"I didn't mean to cause any undue alarm, but it is a definite possibility in the days ahead, in the coming days as we gain access to homes in some of the areas that were cut off.
"We did have a number of fatalities in the last couple of days," Mr Varadkar added.
"It is not possible to say whether those unfortunate deaths would have happened anyway, but it is a possibility that they mightn't have if it wasn't for the weather.
"We felt the full force of Mother Nature in recent days, it was the worst snow storm in 35 years.
