An Irish Rugby Player Has Expertly Called Out A So-Called Supporter Who Called Her A “Heifer”

When it comes to playing sport, it's hard to imagine there's any greater honour than representing your country. Only a select few get to do so and when they do, you'd hope that the day is a proud one regardless of the result.

Rugby player Leah Lyons is one of the lucky people who gets to to wear the green of Ireland at an international level and did so with aplomb by scoring one of five tries in a 35-12 victory over Wales at Donnybrook Stadium on Sunday.

However, despite Lyons' heroics, one so-called supporter in the crowd for some reason thought it apt to call her a 'heifer' while sitting three rows away from her family.

The vile abuse didn't go unnoticed by Lyons and she took to Twitter afterwards to call out the 'silly man'.

She wrote:

'Poor choice of wording from a man in the crowd (Irish) yesterday... 'Heifer' in relating to myself... you're seated three rows from my family who heard you and surrounded by young children, boys and girls, who are all shapes and sizes.

'Rugby is a game for all! No one is perfect, I realise I'm an example of that, but have a bit of respect! Good to hear that someone in the crowd gave you a flake of a flag and told you to be quiet!
