Kerry County Council has confirmed that it will be closing all public car parks at beaches throughout the long Easter weekend.
With temperatures set to hit 20 degrees this weekend, Gardai have launched
Operation Fanacht, which aims to ensure people adhere to social distancing measures that the government introduced a fortnight ago. This includes the provision that people should not travel more than 2km from their homes unless conducting essential business.
With Kerry being home to many of Ireland's most popular locations whenever there's some nice weather, the county council has moved to close public car parks at all beaches in the county for the duration of Easter weekend. A social media post says that 'staff will monitor compliance and liaise with Gardaí' as authorities aim to limit access to the county's beauty spots to those living within a 2km radius.

Current
government measures were put in place on Friday, March 27 and were initially due to expire on Easter Sunday, April 12. However, Health Minister Simon Harris has
indicated that they will be extended, potentially for a few more weeks.
