Aldi Is In Hot Water Over The Mislabelling Of Its ‘Wild Irish Salmon’

People are not happy with Aldi at the moment over a mislabelling blunder. 

What was advertised as 'wild Irish smoked salmon' in their Christmas catalogue actually turned out to be farmed Scottish salmon. 

Not cool. 

According to The Irish Times, Aldi has blamed the mislabelling as a "descriptive error". 

Aldi's 'wild' salmon was advertised in the catalogue as costing €28.56 per kg while wild salmon normally costs around €80 per kg.

Niall Murray, an Irish fishmonger, noticed the discrepancy in prices and pointed out that it couldn't be possible for wild salmon to be sold at that price seeing as it is only available for one month during the year and is quite rare. 

Aldi told The Irish Times that the salmon won't now be for sale in Ireland and that, "there was a descriptive error in our Christmas product brochure in relation to one smoked salmon product".
