Good News For Commuters – Ireland Is Getting A Brand New Motorway

A new M20 motorway that will link Cork and Limerick has been given the green light this morning.

Taoiseach Leo Varadkar confirmed the exciting news for motorists this morning in a speech to the Cork Chamber of Commerce at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

The M20 will connect Cork and Limerick in one long stretch motorway and will even go onto Galway, making Irish commuters lives in the wesht a lot easier.

It will be the first major transport link in Ireland that will not end in Dublin and will replace the current N20 national road.

M20 will link Cork to Limerick and on to Galway. All roads will no longer lead the Dublin. Major part of next capital plan.

There was confusion following the Budget that was announced on Tuesday when Minister for Finance, Paschal Donohe didn't include the future of motorways in his number of capital projects.

The Limerick Leader reported that Varadkar put the scepticism to rest and said, "capital investment can change geography and be a real means of releasing the full economic and social potential of Cork, Limerick and Munster."

€20 million will be invested in the scheme and the planning and design phase will begin soon with a two to three year time frame in place.

News of the 80 kilometre motorway has been happily welcomed by motorists.
