Owners at Viewmount House guesthouse and restaurant in Co. Longford have decided to put the property up for sale. Described as 'a real gem', the 17th-century manor comes complete with four acres of manicured land - including a beautifully serene Japanese garden.
Locals have been reeling at the news that the much-loved Viewmount House restaurant and guesthouse has been put on the market. Up for a whopping €1.1million, the property is being sold by owners James and Beryl Kearney who have built up quite a reputable name for themselves over the course of the past 30 years.
Reacting to the news, chef Gary O Hanlon tweeted to say that has much to thank the place for.
'The end of an era. James called me last night to tell me the news that himself and Beryl were retiring. They trusted me back in 2008 to be their opening Chef. 10 amazing years followed. I was about to go back to America. I owe them so much.'

Foodies across Ireland have also been sharing their sadness at the news. Regularly featured on must-hit food spots in the midlands, the place has picked up several prestigious awards over the years and will be a huge loss to the locality should it close for good.
