Looking up at the starriest sky I had ever laid eyes on, lying between the sandy hills of the Sahara desert is a memory I'll cherish forever.
Last October, my boyfriend and I took our first trip away together. Of course, being us, we decided to go all out and book something a little extravagant.
After seeing a few of our friends heading there with their mohs and misters, we decided to go to Morocco.
One thing that our friends and forums online kept stressing was that a trip to the Sahara (though an absolute TREK) was a must. We went online and booked the trip in advance with a company that was simply named 'Camel Trekking Excursions'.
Now I will say, it was one of the pricier activities we've done together, coming in at €330 per person for a three-day trip, however, I think it was one of the best.

We were picked up in Marrakech on our first day by our driver Mohammad. The taxi was airy, comfy and spacious, which made the nine-hour drive ahead of us a bit more bearable.
(I'm not the best traveller and the roads were super windy, so I would deffo advise taking some Motillium if you're the same.)
We stopped off at some sites including a Casba, a Berber clothes shop and a movie set; it was a little bit random but I was thankful to have a few minutes to stretch the legs and get some air. We eventually made it to the Dadas Valley where we stayed in a cool hotel, had dinner and some time to chill, which was well needed by that stage.
Alternatively, you can skip day one and do the trip over two days. For me, I was thankful to do three days because I find travelling quite difficult, so I needed the rest in between and I really wanted to fully enjoy the desert when we got there.
The trip also includes dinner and breakfast in both the Dadas Valley Hotel and the desert.

Day two is what we had been waiting for.
We were picked up and brought to the Sahara Desert, stopping off at a Nomad camp during the way for some mint tea.
Once we got to the Sahara, we were given headscarves and we were paired up with a camel. The camels belong to the Berber camp and seemed to be really well treated as they loved getting head rubs and were very happy during the trek. It was such an incredible experience riding a camel across the desert and looking out to the tangerine-coloured sandy hills - I've never seen anything like it.

We trekked during sunset and arrived at the camp just when it had gotten dark. We were brought to our room which was a lot more glam than I had anticipated - we had a double bed and a shower and lots of room for our bags.
We then headed into the dining area for some delicious food and even a bottle of wine, which we were BUZZING about because most restaurants in Morocco are alcohol-free. The food was delicious and the meal gave us time to bond with the other travellers on the trip.
The meal finished with live music from the Berber tribe and we all danced under the stars.
It was my boyfriend's birthday so they brought him out a cake and sang happy birthday to him in Berber, safe to say it was the best birthday he's had and they were the best hosts we could have hoped for.

We finished the night lying on the beanbags looking up at the sky - I cannot stress to you how beautiful it was. I've never seen so many stars and we even saw a shooting star.

We headed to bed and got up super early to catch the sunrise over the Desert.
Just... wow!
After that, we tried our hand at a bit of sandboarding which was one of the coolest things I've tried, even though it's really difficult.
I had a huge smile on my face for the entire trip and it's probably the best excursion I've ever done - so many memories, incredible photos and a great story to tell.

If you're looking to do something completely unique and unforgettable, I cannot recommend this trip more.
Literally one of the best things I've ever done and super romantic for couples.
