It seems that a new dating trend is taking over Ireland which seems a lot harsher than 'Shaveducking' but we don't think it'll ever be as bad as 'Phubbing' 

'Soft-Nexting' has popped up and it's here to make everything worse for your dating life - hooray. 

According to Narcity, it has been described as a hurtful game that is played by one partner in a relatively new relationship. 

To "soft-next" someone means that there is a "brief period of ignoring them that lasts between 3 days and a week, depending on the severity of the behavior and how much time I need to figure out how to deal with it."

So in other words, you'll ignore your other half, not even tell them that anything is wrong and decide to go back talking to them whenever you have dealt with what every problem is bugging you. 

Lads, sharing is caring like. 

It normally occurs after unwanted behaviour or "drama." Normally, lads use it towards girls in order to "teach them a lesson" while some use the period to decide whether or not they want to keep the relationship going or not. 

But if you have those thoughts in your head, for the love of god, let your other half know and don't be leaving them in the lurch. 

What's even worse is an extended definition from Blackdragon Blog states that: "At the end of the soft next, the relationship resumes as normal.”

So, they'll admit that they've been ignoring you but they don't even explain why they were doing it.
