Hotel weddings in the near future look set to feature a number of new guidelines with guests asked to adhere to physical distancing, even on the dancefloor.
The
Irish Times reports that the Fáilte Ireland, government officials and hospitality bodies are currently finalising guidelines for hotels, restaurants, self-catering accommodation and caravan parks for post-lockdown Ireland.
Among the scenarios being considered is the future of hotel weddings once people can start tying the knot again. The Covid-19 crisis has seen numerous couples push their big day back to 2021 or later and when weddings do return to hotels, there could be big changes to what we're all used to.
The publication says that 'even the dance floor will be subjected to social distancing under the guidelines' while private rooms could be used for drinks receptions. During meals, 'salt and pepper shakers and butter dishes will be available only on request. There will also be “no family-style service of food", ie no shared vegetable and gravy dishes.'
When the time for dancing arrives, 'there will be signage on tables and dancefloors which must ask guests to respect physical distancing guidelines. Staff will be required to monitor and manage distancing.'
Guidelines for weddings are expected to be finalised and made public in the coming weeks.
