Green is the new black by the sounds of it.

We all know what Black Friday is by now…but have you heard of Green Friday? Because up until very recently I hadn’t. Essentially, it’s an initiative led by Marian O’Gorman of Kilkenny that aims to encourage people to shop local. A national campaign, the movement champions Irish bands and businesses – putting them at the forefront for all consumer needs. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5KpQR9F7aN/ One of the busiest shopping days of the year, people can oftentimes forget what’s on offer on our own doorsteps, opting instead for foreign brands and companies. By making a conscious effort to shop local, customers will be driving the Irish economy, supporting Irish jobs and nurturing the creative community around the country. All positive I think you’ll agree. Irish consumers have enthusiastically embraced Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the past, with over €50 million spent over the course of the weekend in 2018. So, imagine what could happen if Ireland was at the centre of that spending. https://www.instagram.com/p/B5IxSOHFLC-/ Speaking of the campaign, Marian O’Gorman, CEO of Kilkenny said: “Our survey of consumers shows that 84 per cent prefer to buy from Irish suppliers.” She later added that “we, as consumers, need to appreciate the fundamental fact that by keeping money in circulation in our own communities, we are protecting jobs and public services”. You can find out more about the campaign here. Remember Green Friday, not Black Friday.
