"It was a phenomenal adventure."

  We are obsessed with this wholesome story from the covid lockdown years. Craig McMahon and Danie O'Brien, a prison officer and a teacher who live in Drimnagh, used the many months of restrictions and international travel bans to explore our very own country. Craig said this of their decision:

"With travel restrictions still not fully lifted and airports becoming a nightmare with each passing day, we decided to stay on the Emerald Isle and see every corner of it. We saw everything from the Burren to the Giants Causeway and all that's inbetween."

The pair documented their travels with a selfie at each county's welcome sign. It wasn't always as straight forward for the couple as they made their way through each county. Craig told us that they, "took a boat to cross one county border, from Kerry to Clare via Tarbert ferry port." The pair often took what Craig calls "artistic license" at times, blocking out parts of some signs to get the clearest reading of the sign. In some counties it's less straight forward than a sign simply reading the county name, for example Dublin is split into four councils and so has a sign for each of these (Fingal, Dublin City, South Dublin and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown). Even so, we think they did an incredible job. Make sure to have a good look at the above collage to see each of the county signs. We're obsessed with this story and think Craig and Danie's travels will be of inspiration to other Irish people.
