The word influencer often evokes images of a leggy blonde laced in fake tan laughing at her coffee but lately, there have been a few individuals using their social following for more than a quick-hitting ego boost.
There has been a huge sustainable fashion movement in the Irish Instagram community as of late. Thrifting is cool again, wearing that 10-year-old t-shirt is trendy and people are becoming more conscious about the environmental impact of their spending habits.
My best friend and I walked past a huge Boohoo billboard the other day and she turned to me and said: "it's crazy how much I hate these companies now, I'll probably never buy from them again". Whoever said social influencers have no power are wrong.
It's so refreshing to see people using their platforms to promote sustainability and educate people about their carbon footprints and how it's affecting the planet. It's exactly what an influencer should be using their platform for.

Taz radiates happiness and has one of the most aesthetically GORJ Insta feeds around.
She's one half of Sustainable Fashion Dublin, a great organisation that hosts a wide range of environmentally-friendly events such as thrift shop crawls, swap shops, alteration classes and sustainability talks.

Jill & Gill are probably one of my favourite Irish designer duos right now.
Jill and Gill paired up back in 2016 after collaborating on a print commission together. Since then they’ve worked on projects for James Vincent McMorrow, Currabinny, Smirnoff, Repeal project, Jameson and Brown Thomas.
Their garments are really well made and ethically sourced. They have been created under the brand’s ethos to be fashion conscious and timeless.
