Irish Activist Sinéad Burke Featured On Vogue September Issue Cover By Meghan Markle

The coveted September issue of British Vogue has been guest edited by none other than Meghan Markle this year and she has chosen to feature some trailblazing women on the cover. The Duchess of Sussex picked Irish activist Sinéad Burke to be among 15 women from across politics, literature and more who she regards as ‘trailblazing changemakers, united by their fearlessness in breaking barriers’. Sinéad stars on the iconic new Forces For Change September issue cover along with other remarkable women including New Zealand’s prime minister Jacinda Ardern, climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg, writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Salma Hayek, Laverne Cox and Jane Fonda. Earlier today, Sinéad tweeted, ‘I’ve been collecting the September issue of Vogue for as long as I can remember. They were my gateway to a world that I couldn’t visualise myself within. ‘Those September issues still line my bookcases at home and now, I’ll get to add one more to that collection! Bananas.’

The fashion magazine also featured Sinéad on its 2018 list of the 25 most influential and aspirational women working in Britain. Meghan guest edited the magazine’s most important issue of the year along with editor-in-chief Edward Enninful, who commented, ‘For the past few months, the Duchess and I have been working together on this shared passion project: to dedicate British Vogue’s biggest issue of the year to all the remarkable women who are redefining our world for the better.’ READ NEXT: Waterford Man Becomes First Person To Paddleboard Around Ireland
