Women Need To Stop Doing This Before Having Sex According To Expert

An American Urologist has said that women who urinate before sex actually carry a greater risk of developing a urinary tract infection (UTI).

David Kaufman - who is based in New York - told Yahoo Health that peeing before sex was one of the most common pieces of advice told to women but it was causing more damage to them than they realise.

According to him, urinating before sex "is the number one cause of post-coital urinary tract infections, also known as honeymoon cystitis.

"Bacteria have tiny pilli that act as Velcro hooks, which allow them to attach themselves to the urethral lining."

Kaufman explained that going to the toilet after sex allows the bacteria to become dislodged which stops it from moving to the bladder.

Therefore, waiting until after sex to pee means you'll store more urine thus pushing all of the bacteria out afterwards.

UTIs can cause a painful lower abdomen, urgency and sometimes fever.

In Ireland, UTI’s are particularly common among women, and it is estimated that as many as one in every five women will develop some form of UTI during her lifetime.
