There are a lot of things we're all missing these days - a meal out at one of our fave restaurants definitely amongst them.
Life feels as though it's all doom and gloom lately and sometimes it's easier to see the glass as half empty than half full... but there is a certain sense of unity in knowing that we're all riding the same rollercoaster of emotions together.
Starting a conversation online about things we miss, Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney got the ball rolling by saying it's restaurants for her.
"I miss restaurants. Not any place fancy. Just restaurants. Waiters. Different salt and peppers. The second cheapest wine.
"Can we just have a look at the dessert menu. Ordering anything that has rhubarb in it. The pretend refusal to order the 2nd bottle. The TMI. The bread baskets."
Oh, the bread baskets. She really hit the nail on the head with that one, didn't she?
Setting us all off down memory lane, others have heightened the nostalgia by adding to the above. According to one:
"All of that, including the rhubarb. The anticipation of a great meal served, the pre dinner drink, cheese boards, good coffee. An old fashioned G&T in a normal glass in The Crane after a meal in @kaigalway."

My own personal miss list includes hugging (human! contact!), the sun (can't really blame the Irish weather on the pandemic... but I'm going to anyway),
travelling farther than 5km and, of course, my friends and family who I've gone far too long without seeing. Restaurants too, but I think that goes without saying given how often I blather on about
food.
