You've likely seen the incredible images of the Neowise comet on Instagram by now, as it's been visible to the naked eye in Irish skies for the last few weeks.
But this week presents the best chance of seeing the 'Comet of the Century', which is expected to reach it's nearest point to Earth on Thursday, July 23.

According to
NASA, 'Comet Neowise is putting on a dazzling display for skywatchers before it disappears, not to be seen again for another 6,800 years. '
The best time to view the comet is just after sunset, and those who are lucky enough to be able to get to a spot that's far away from city lights will be treated to the best view.
Stargazers should keep an eye on the area just underneath The Big Dipper for the best chance of a sighting.

NASA says: 'Comet Neowise will likely look like a fuzzy star with a bit of a tail, so using binoculars or a small telescope is recommended to get the best views of this object.'
