Ballynahinch Castle to host residential photography workshops

Listen up, budding photographers.

Ballynahinch Castle, based in Galway, will host photography workshops with Podge Kelly at the helm this November, designed to help novices to get the most out of either their phone cameras or DSLR cameras, or both.

The workshops will cover still life and landscape photography (weather permitting), with participants exploring the magnificent estate and its setting through the lens of their cameras. The Ballynahinch grounds, changing skies and scenery, as well as the gorgeous seasonal colours will provide a wonderful source of inspiration.

Photography Workshops

The one-day workshop on Wednesday November 15th is all about taking photos with the camera on your mobile and learning about the variety of helpful apps to help you get the very best out of your phone.

Thursday's workshop on 16th November 16th is a basic photography course for those with a DSLR (digital single lens reflex camera) and getting the best from it, ideally suited to those who have a camera but don’t know how to use all its features.

Booking details

The courses are limited to just six people each in order for Kelly to spend ample time with each student. Now the course, as well as food and boarding at Ballynahinch Castle, are on the more expensive side of things. For a single person only wishing to do one workshop, the cost starts from €960 for the following:

• Two nights bed & breakfast, arriving either Tuesday 14th or Wednesday 15th, in a classic room
• One day workshop
•  Dinner in the Fisherman’s Pub on the first night and dinner in the lovely Owenmore Restaurant on the second
• Lunch on the day of the workshop

If you're planning to share a classic/double room, it will be €695pp.

For a single person to do both courses will start at €1550, for the following:

• Three nights bed and breakfast, arriving Tuesday 14th, in a classic room
• Two days of workshops
• Lunch and dinner included across the three nights (two of which will take place in the restaurant, and one in the pub)

If you're planning to share a classic/double room, it will be €1160pp.
