Publishing company Condé Nast has confirmed that Irish journalist Samantha Barry has been appointed as editor-in-chief of Glamour Magazine.

Barry, who hails from Cork, is leaving her current role as Head Of Social Media at CNN in order to take up her new post. 

Barry has previously worked at RTÉ, Newstalk and BBC and will take up the position at the New York-based Glamour next week. 

She becomes the eighth editor of the magazine which was founded in 1939.
