If you've ever thought about forest bathing (and who hasn't?), you'll be able to try it for yourself pretty soon in Co. Wicklow.
Forest bathing, or shinrin-yoku in Japanese, may not mean what you think it means in that you won't need to bring your bottle of bubbles with you. Essentially, forest bathing is 'bathing in the forest atmosphere, or taking in the forest through your senses.'
According to
National Geographic, the term originated in Japan in the 1980s 'to offer an eco-antidote to tech-boom burnout and to inspire residents to reconnect with and protect the country’s forests.' Well, if people were suffering from tech burnout back in the 80s, what does that say for us now?
