This Part Of A Major Irish Town Still Only Has Access To 50% Broadband

A report published by The Central Statistics Office yesterday states that 50% of those living in a village in Westmeath is still without broadband.

According to Breaking News, Ballynacargy in County Westmeath has claimed the top spot of Irish villages surviving without internet in 2017 - with a shocking 50% going without the service in their day-to-day lives.

Willie Penrose, Labour TD for Longford-Westmeath has stated his dismay about the lack of internet:

"This is a cry to be treated equally, we are entitled to the very same service.''

"The problem is there are large urban areas and the big commercial operators which I can understand have to satisfy their share bullet, but there are three or four of those companies available in some of those towns for €25,000 and €30,000 and they're now competing against one another commercially."
