Galway pizzeria Dough Bros named 15th best in the world

All in a days work for the Bros.

Galway mozzarella slingers Dough Bros are no stranger to the pizza award scene - since opening ten years ago they've been lauded as the 16th Best Pizza in Europe, Best Pizza in Ireland 2022 and the 37th Best Pizzeria in the World. This year however, the bros have been moving their way up the ranks, and they've now formally been named 15th Best Pizza in the World by global travel site Big 7 Travel. Not bad going for a couple of chancers, as the lads say themselves. The chancers in question are Eugene & Ronan Greaney, who first rolled onto the wood fired scene with a food truck back in 2013. They've gone from strength to strength since with two restaurants in Galway and a hugely successful DIY box, which is available for delivery all over Ireland and enabled the business to thrive and flourish during the darkest depths of lockdown.

The list from Big 7, which is now in its 5th year, was compiled based on a combined score of reader suggestions, online user reviews and Big 7 Travel's editorial team.

The publication had the following to say about Dough Bros:

“The Dough Bros started life as a humble food truck, but it’s since become a regular fixture on the world’s most prestigious pizza rankings. The Neapolitan-style pizzas feature both Italian and locally sourced Irish ingredients, including cold cuts and cheeses. It’s not just the critics who love their pizzas either, the restaurant has overwhelmingly positive reviews online, with many proclaiming it the best pizza they’ve ever had anywhere – Italy included.”

Dough Bros will assume their deserving position on the list alongside the likes of Una Pizza Napoletana in NYC, Pequod's Pizza in Chicago, Pepe In Grani in Italy and Bæst Pizza in Denmark. Taking to Instagram to announce the news, the team at Dough Bros wrote: "Right this is getting silly now…We have just been named 15th BEST PIZZERIA IN THE WORLD. You couldn’t make this stuff up."
