Two Irish food businesses were issued closure orders by the Food Safety Authority last month- one in Co Limerick, the other in Co Louth.
Boojum on Patrick Street in Limerick was amongst one of two Irish food businesses to be served closure orders by the
Food Safety Authority (FSA) last month. Issued following a visit to the premises by an Environmental Health Officer from the HSE, the report cites an "accumulation of sewage and wastewater" along with a "strong malodour" as one of the main reasons for the decision.
Stating that there is "likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health", the FSA report later adds that "an adequate number of flush lavatories" are to be made available, each connected to an "effective drainage system".
Issued on September 8, the closure order was subsequently lifted a couple of days later on September 11.
The only other food business to be served a closure order in September was for New World takeaway in Dundalk. Noting evidence of rodent activity in the food storage room in the rear yard, the closure order was lifted over the weekend on October 4.
