I've said it before and I'll say it again, Sligo is a foodie gem.
If you're into fresh, top quality dishes from unique traders you need to put Sligo down for your next weekend break and eat your way around the gateway to the north west of Ireland.
Brunch is up there as one of my favourite ways to experience a new eatery - it gives you a real insight into what they're about, ingredient selection and presentation.
Here are some of my absolute faves in Ireland's surfing county:
1. Baker Boys
Baker Boys is Sligo's newest foodie addition.
The café/deli is located in the heart of Finisklin and presents a hip vibe with quick and focused food.
The core ethos of Baker Boys is to delight with a fresh modern style of interiors and food as well as offering a social, fun and inviting space to take a break from the daily working grind.
They have a bakery on site so their sourdoughs are fresh, crispy, warm and ready to eat.
Baker Boys opens Monday-Friday from 7.30am - 5pm and is also open on Saturdays for an all-day brunch.

2. Pudding Row
Located in Easkey, bang smack in the middle of the Wild Atlantic Way, this cosy café was voted Best Café in Ireland at the 2018 Irish Restaurant Awards.
The café/bakery specialises in sourdough dishes, fresh local and organic produce and crumbly pastries. Inside, you’ll lookout to beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean.

3. Sweet As...
Created by Carolanne Rushe, co-owner of Sweet Beat Café, this deli/diner is one for our veggie and vegan friends.
Sweet As... is all about the food and flavour.
They put so much time and effort into perfecting textures and combinations. The menu is organic, seasonal and locally sourced, with dishes such as hotpots, miso turmeric noodle bowls, pastries and tarts.

4. Nook
Why not have your brunch in an adorable café?
Nook has a monthly changing menu with local, organic and seasonal ingredients.
Head chef Ethna has a main focus on creating something a little different to the norm, and focusing on constant changing menus to incorporate the best the seasons had to offer, as well as giving space to showcase local and Irish ingredients.

5. Shell's Cafe
This one is definitely for the outdoorsy-type.
This dainty surf café and shop on the coastline has one of the best flat whites in the country and they also serve up a mean cuppa hot choccy.

6. Sweet Beat
Sweet Beat is a plant based café that serves up brunch and lunch options. They specialise in ferments, cold pressed juices, smoothies and raw cakes.
The food is almost as colourful as the café's bright and colourful exterior. It's all super fresh and you won't feel shite after it, which is key.
This is legit heaven on earth for veggies and even vegans. You'll find the café on Bridge Street and it's open seven days a week.

7. Kate's Kitchen
This cosy daytime café is run by pair of sisters.
It's a huge hit with locals and tourists alike for their tasty treats and kick ass coffee - also, they make the BEST sausage rolls going.
