From West Cork crab to Dunmore John Dory, there's a lot to be choosing from.

There's incredible fresh fish to be had in pretty much every corner of this country, whether it's battered at your local chipper or served on crushed ice with a champagne mignonette sauce. Well aware of this, the Michelin Guide have named their 6 top seafood restaurants in Ireland, most of whom offer fare caught right outside the restaurant door.

Cush

Ballycotton, Cork  Perched atop the most easterly point of the pier in Ballycotton, Cush is no stranger to the Michelin Guide - the seaside eatery was awarded Bib Gourmands in 2022 and 2023. Cush works closely with local suppliers to create standout dishes like their roast loin of monkfish and seared West Cork scallops.

Vaughans Anchor Inn

Liscannor, Clare  Lauded by Michelin for their crab and their beef dripping chips, Vaughans' location between Lahinch Beach and the Cliffs of Moher makes it an idyllic setting for chowing down on some seafood.

Max's

Kinsale, Cork  Another nod for Cork (the Rebels did extremely well on this list, it has to be said) Max's was first added to the Michelin Guide in 2022 and is known for its low fuss, high quality seafood dishes. The bistro has been serving the people of Kinsale for 25 years and is a must when visiting the colourful town.

Adrift

Dunmore, Cork Over the bay from Inchydoney, Dunmore House can't be matched in terms of its views and showcasing of the best of West Cork seafood. Dishes also usually feature fruit and veg from the hotel's organic garden, as well as Clonakilty's famous black pudding.

Out of the Blue

Dingle, Kerry  There's nothing like a trip to Dingle in the summer and if you've a hankering for great fish while you're there, look no further than Out of the Blue. Menus are decided each morning based on the catch of the day, dishes are colourful and exciting and it's a must for any seafood lover.

Goldie

Oliver Plunkett Street, Cork  The only city restaurant on the list, Goldie gained props for its modern edge and deft showcasing of West Cork seafood. Goldie puts its own spin on great Irish fish with in-house pickling and curing and has more awards and magazine mentions than you can shake a crab claw at.
