While Ireland might not be known for its coffee, there are some amazing cafes across the length and breadth of the country that deserve some love.
While it would be impossible to try them all, we have put together some of our favs.
So if you’re looking for a coffee with a view or a quick cup to go, we have you covered.
Mayo
This Must Be The Place is a bustling cafe located in Westport, Mayo. One of the winners of Best Café in the 2025 Irish Restaurant Awards Connaught Regional Final, this little gem is well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area.
Serving speciality coffee and simple food made using Irish produce, this place has plenty of seats to chill back and chillax.
Galway
If you're looking for a cosy space to sip on a nice hot drink, look no further than The Secret Garden. Based in Galway, this family-owned tea shop and cafe has over 100 teas and snacks to sample with gluten-free, raw and vegan options available! Fret not because they do coffee too! This is the perfect spot for a relaxing afternoon pick-me-up.
Waterford
What started out as a small home operation has risen into one of the best bakeries in the country. The Seagull Bakery is located just up the hill from the Tramore seafront. Their pastries are to die for and go perfectly with one of their delicious coffees. You can sit outside on one of their benches and enjoy your feast.
While you're there, you should also make sure to pick up one of their artisan loaves to enjoy at home.
Multiple locations
With locations in Lucan, Blanchardstown, Swords, Trim, Kells and Dunboyne, there are plenty of places to try out Coffee Works. Using speciality coffee from Celbridge-based coffee roastery Groundwork Coffee, they make a mean oat latte that's sure to give you that much-needed caffeine fix. You're also sure to find delicious, healthy snacks galore in their cafes for that sweet trip fix.
Galway
The term 'hidden gem' gets thrown around a lot these days but here it applies. Java's Cafe on Abbeygate Street Upper in Galway is a must-visit spot for a great coffee and an authentic french crepe. Inside you will find yourself transported to a Parisian cafe. Tres chic.
Added bonus, it opens until 11pm all week long and 10pm on a Sunday making it the ideal alternative to the pub for those quieter nights!
Cork
For any literature lovers out there, this next one is for you. Alchemy is a café and bookshop on Barrack Street, Cork. opened by Eoin Hurley and Ronan Power following the 2028 economic crash, this space was created with the sole purpose of providing good coffee, sweet treats and freedom of expression during the time.
Alchemy also now has a little café and bakery in the Marina Market, meaning you can sip while you stroll.
Ennis
Winner of Café of the Year in the 2025 iteration of the Good Food Ireland Awards Sweet ’n Green is a great spot for a coffee and chat. This healthy cafe prides itself on producing vibrant, healthy food with amazing fresh flavours made from locally sourced produce. As you can expect, they also make some amazing coffee.
Their new in-house coffee, Anam from Ethiopia, is roasted locally in the Burren so make sure to try it out next time you pass by.
Dublin
The Butler Pantry crafts a great cup of joe. With their coffee provided by Cool Hand Coffee Roasters, you’re sure to get a great cup.
Since opening their first location in 1987 on Mount Merrion Avenue, Blackrock, they have expanded exponentially and are renowned for their baked goods. With numerous locations around Dublin, there are plenty of chances to pick up a cup.
