  Cornloft Restaurant, based on Tuam Road in Athlone, have closed as of last week after three years in business. The Athlone restaurant took to Facebook to let their customers know about the closure.

"Unfortunately due to the current climate I have had to make the difficult decision to close the restaurant. Like many other businesses the Cornloft is not financially viabale in this climate.

Their official last day of trade was Sunday 8th January. Unfortunately this is not the first case of an Irish restaurant closing due to the economic climate. In the last few months of 2022 there was a trend of hospitality spots in Ireland facing closures due to the rising cost of produce and inflation.
