  Yes, as someone pointed out, we don't have a Royal Family, but in light of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, we couldn't help but wonder who would make up an Irish Royal Family. While we had some thoughts of our own, we took to Instagram stories to put the question to the public, and you didn't disappoint with your answers. So before we get into some of my top choices, let's have a look at yours.

The Corrs

Amy Huberman and Brian O'Driscoll

Johnny Sexton

Mary and John from Father Ted

Brendan Gleeson and his lads

Our absolute favourite acting family, Brendan Gleeson and his sons could run the whole damn country. Though they've collectively had many iconic performances, Brendan as Knuckles McGinty in Paddington 2 is what we're putting forward as his nomination.

Our vote

Look, we had some great votes there. Truly. And I agree with them all; they're all candidates for the Irish Royal Family. But I think we were perhaps doing a disservice to a few people, like the people's princess Nicola Coughlan, or the nation's favourite Liam Neeson. Somehow there was not one vote for Maura Higgins, who put Longford on the map for many international Love Island viewers.
