Fame comes with plenty of rewards but being recognised everywhere you go can come with a few downsides. Not so for Niall Horan who's far too clever for that kind of thing.
The Mullingar man has taken part in a wide-ranging interview with football media company Copa90 in which he speaks about a number of topics including going to games as a youngster with his dad, his
online spats with Leeds United and the time he packed up and went off to South East Asia for a couple of months.
Speaking to former France and Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, Niall revealed that after One Direction went on hiatus in 2016, himself and his cousins traveled around Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia and the Philippines, staying in budget hostels along the way.
But how does someone with nearly 40 million followers on Twitter stay under the radar in all of these highly-populated destinations? According to Niall, it was easier than he thought. He tells Patrice that "I had a hat on, wore sunglasses all the time and tried to blend in with everyone."
He went on to add that "some people would say to me when I would go to a hostel for a drink, 'fair play for trying to do the normal things' and they'd actually just leave you alone which I thought was really cool."
