Sutcliffe died just a few days ago while in prison for his crimes.
Netflix have just launched the trailer for their new documentary series The Ripper, telling the story of the investigators and witnesses and how the recall the modern-day Jack the Ripper who terrorised the north of England during the late 1970s.
As Netflix describe the documentary, "For five years, between 1975 to 1980, the Yorkshire Ripper murders cast a dark shadow over the lives of women in the North of England. 13 women were dead and the police seemed incapable of catching the killer. No one felt safe - and every man was a suspect."
The trailer reveals that the police involved in the investigation initially inferred that unless you were a sex worker, you would be safe, but that was soon proven to be untrue, as Sutcliffe expanded on his pool of victims.
Additionally, the manner in which the victim's bodies were discovered had a lot in common with the way that a legendary Victoria-era killer attacked his victims.
The man eventually found and imprisoned for these crimes, Peter Sutcliffe himself died on Friday, November 13 this year, apparently after he refused treatment for COVID-19 related illnesses.
The four-part documentary series is set to premiere on Netflix from Wednesday, December 16.
