Nicolas Anelka has led one of the most colourful football careers in recent memory and Netflix is set to showcase all the drama in a new documentary.

Former France striker Nicolas Anelka is the subject a forthcoming Netflix documentary entitled Anelka: Misunderstood. If you're not familiar with the enigmatic Frenchman, you're probably thinking that the title doesn't exactly lend itself to a story about an angelic figure and in many ways, you wouldn't be wrong. Nicknamed Le Sulk from early on in his career, Anelka played club football in seven different countries and is largely remembered for his spells at Arsenal and Chelsea, winning the Premier League with both London clubs. While acquiring an impressive medal haul, the striker's career wasn't short on controversy, as viewers will see in the trailer for Misunderstood, which was released today. Anelka was known for clashing with certain managers, most notably at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when he was sent home for an alleged x-rated tirade aimed at coach Raymond Domenech. However, in the documentary, a host of high-profile footballers appear to be pulling for their former teammate, including Didier Drogba, Emmanuel Petit and Thierry Henry.
