The Late Late Toy Show drew in record numbers on Friday night and drew praise for its Greatest Showman theme.

Those who sat through this year’s edition of the 'best night of the year' saw highlights including Ryan Tubridy showing off his vocal skills as P.T. Barnum and little Michael meeting his GAA hero Davy Fitzgerald.

It’s now been revealed that it was the most-watched Irish programme of the year, with 1.3 million people tuning in to watch it live on Friday night.

The Christmas special drew in more than 1.5 million viewers over the weekend, with 141,700 watching their recording on Saturday and 51,900 on Sunday.

The Toy Show was also watched by a record number of people abroad this year, with people tuning in via the RTÉ Player in over 100 countries including Myanmar, Burma, Mongolia and Haiti.

Host Ryan Tubridy said, "I am blown away every single year at the reaction we get to The Late Late Toy Show.

“As a team, we are so honoured that people open their arms and welcome us in for such a magical night, and I sincerely hope it was as much fun for our viewers as it was for me on Friday."

The second most-watched episode of The Late Late Show this year was their London special back in October which attracted 610,000 viewers.
