The trailer for the highly anticipated Ted Bundy film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile just dropped and it looks incredibly creepy to say the least.
The film stars Zac Efron as notorious serial killer Ted Bundy, while Lily Collins plays his fiancée Elizabeth Kloepfer.
The unsettling title of the film comes from a courtroom description of Bundy that was used during his trial and hints at just what we can expect from the story.
It’s told from Elizabeth’s perspective, who refused to believe he was guilty of such horrific crimes for years as Bundy claimed that he was framed.
Bundy was convicted of sexually assaulting and brutally murdering at least 30 women and was executed in Florida in 1989 after his trial.
It happened to premiere at Sundance Film Festival the same weekend that Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes dropped on Netflix and plenty of people were concerned about how fixated both productions seemed to be on Bundy’s good looks.
It’s something Zac insists he’s aware of and told Variety that he has a "responsibility" to ensure that the film isn't a "celebration" or “glorification” of Bundy.
He added, “They could not believe that such a strait-laced, pleasant, smart, smiling, calm individual was responsible for such horrendous, horrific crimes.”
The actor has been gaining serious praise for his performance - The Guardian called it “career-changing” and “remarkably committed”, while Slash Film said, “Efron takes on Bundy’s mannerisms perfectly, to the point where it no longer feels like we’re watching Efron – we’re watching Bundy resurrected from the grave.”
