It only seems like yesterday that we were celebrating the return of
Derry Girls for a second series. Since then, the Channel 4 sitcom hasn't let us down, continuing the hilarious form it showed in its maiden series in 2018.
Alas, after the penultimate episode aired last night, it means we only have one more chance to get a glimpse into the world of Erin, Clare and the rest before, hopefully, a third series hits our screens.
While the show is never short on laughs, it's the emotional and poignant moments created by writer Lisa McGee that really resonate with the audience and last night had such instances in spades.
First, we saw that Orla had asked Granda Joe to be her date to the prom because, as she explained: "he's the fella I like the most."

Then, we saw that Erin had been stood up by 'the biggest ride' in Derry, only for James to turn up and save the day, à la Ross Geller.

Finally, the show pulled it out of the bag once again at the end when we saw the people of Derry celebrating the announcement of an IRA ceasefire, thus bringing peace to the city. The moment appeared to really reach home, with a number of people calling on the UK Parliament to take note, amid the current Brexit chaos.
