Some of the very best action and comedy movies are on your TV tonight.
Now that Christmas is out of the way, but knowing that everyone is still likely to be stuck at home during these
bitterly cold nights, the TV programmers are still pulling out the stops in terms of good movies to watch.
Dumb & Dumber - Comedy Central - 6.45pm
Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels star as two best friends who head on a cross-country trip to reunite a woman with her lost briefcase, unaware they've plonked themselves into the middle of a kidnapping plot.
How to Train Your Dragon - E4 - 7.30pm
One of the best (and oddly under-appreciated) animated movies of recent years, an impressive voice cast - Gerard Butler, Jonah Hill, Kristen Wiig, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, TJ Miller, David Tennant - star in this story of a young viking who secretly befriends an injured dragon.
The Bee Gees: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart - Sky One - 8pm
We go into detail on this
here, but if you're a fan of music documentaries, you should absolutely check this out tonight.
The Fugitive - ITV4 - 9pm
Harrison Ford goes on the run in this Best Picture Oscar nominee (!?), when he becomes the prime suspect in the murder of his wife, being chased by US Marshall Tommy Lee Jones, all while trying to gather evidence to prove his innocence.
The Matrix - TCM - 9pm
Before the fourth movie arrives (currently due in cinemas in December 2021), go back and check out the original - and best - of the Matrix movies to date, still a landmark in action-sci-fi.
The Mummy - RTE Two - 9.20pm
When he accidentally awakens an ancient evil mummy from her sleep, Tom Cruise must travel the world to defeat the demon before she takes over the entire planet.
Inside Llewyn Davis - TG4 - 10.30pm
The Coen Brothers rally an impressive cast - including Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, John Goodman and Justin Timberlake - for this story of a folk musician in 1960s New York.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople - FilmFour - 10.50pm
Sam Neill is forced to chase down a 12-year-old he has been fostering through the New Zealand wilderness, which indadvertedly sparks a nationwide manhunt. A brilliantly quirky comedy.
The War of the Roses - RTE One - 12.10am
Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner star as husband-and-wife in this pitch-black comedy about the world's worst divorce.
Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa - BBC One - 1.20am
