Tonight's selection includes one of the greatest thrillers ever made.

Thursday is upon us, and with it comes a very decent selection of movies. Normally we see the same handful of movies over and over again, at least one that pops up regularly, but tonight's seem to be entirely fresh picks. And for that, we are grateful. The Core - FilmFour - 6.20pm When the magnetic core of the Earth suddenly starts slowing down, a group of scientists (including Hilary Swank, Aaron Eckhart, Stanley Tucci, and Delroy Lindo) pilot a state-of-the-art digging vehicle that will take them to the centre of the planet, with the hopes of setting of a series of nuclear devices to restart the spin. Quartet - BBC Four - 8pm Directed by Dustin Hoffman and starring Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins and Michael Gambon, the film tells the story of four former opera singers prepare for their annual concert to raise funds for their retirement home. Jaws - ITV4 - 9pm A shark terrorises an American beach resort in Spielberg's classic thriller. Pacific Rim: Uprising - FilmFour - 9pm John Boyega is one of a handful of giant robot controllers who are tasked with saving humanity from an onslaught of monsters from a parallel universe. Failure to Launch - Comedy Central - 9pm Sarah Jessica Parker is a relationship specialist who is hired by parents to help their grown children start to want to move on with their lives and out of their homes, but there is a spanner in the works when she starts to actually fall for her latest client (Matthew McConaughey). Predators - ITV4 - 11.40pm Putting a spin on the formula, a group of the world's greatest killers (including, eh, Adrian Brody) are abducted from Earth and dropped into an alien planet, where they're to be used as prey for trainee Predators. American Hustle - FilmFour - 1.15am Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and Bradley Cooper star in this 70s set political drama, full of double crosses and Oscar-nominated performances.
