US rock band The National have today announced three big Irish shows which will take place in June of next year.
The five-piece, led by frontman Matt Berninger, will take to the stage at the Botanic Gardens in Belfast on June 6 before appearances at the Docklands Festival in Limerick on June 7 and Live At The Marquee in Cork on June 8.

The National first played here in Ireland in 2002, albeit in the more humble surroundings of Auntie Annie's in Belfast, The Cobblestone in Dublin and The Triskel in Cork. Ever since, they have become one of the country's most popular live acts, memorably performing in Donnybrook Stadium in the summer of 2018.
The origins of The National can be traced back to 20o1 when Berninger and bassist Scott Devendorf met while both were attending the University of Cincinnati. The pair played in a band called Nancy together before joining up with Scott's brother Bryan Devendorf as well as fellow musical siblings Aaron and Bryce Dessner to form The National.
The group have since gone on to release six studio albums, the seventh of which (Sleep Well Beast) won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album in 2018.
The National's large Irish following should see tickets being snapped up fairly fast so make sure to get yours when they are released this coming Friday at 9am.
