The Grim Truth Behind Your Unwanted Gadgets

Ever wondered where your unwanted electronics end up? Well this guy, Alex Gorosh a film maker decided to find out where his recycled, once loved gadgets go. And the truth is pretty grim.

In his short documentary, he reveals the pretty disturbing truth behind where some of our dumped electronics end up. He visits he small village called Agbogbloshie in Ghana, Africa the world's digital dumping ground where young people burn plastics from the unwanted goods in order to extract the metals inside. Due to the hazardous fumes that the workers have to inhale on a daily basis the average life expectancy of someone in this village is only 25 years old. Alex highlights in the movie how recycling responsibly with companies like Gizmogul means unwanted electronics are destroyed or recycled safely and money is put back into communities like that in Ghana to help improve the working conditions and lives of the locals.
