The “Best” Age To Get Married If You Want To Avoid Divorce Has Been Revealed

That teenage dream you had of marrying your high school sweet heart? It's probably for the best that you broke up after six long weeks in 5th year and didn't get wed at 18 after all, as a study reveals the best age to get married in order to avoid divorce is more specific than you think. 

Sometimes known as the 'Goldilocks Theory', research by Nicholas Wolfing shows that the sweet spot is not too young, not too old. 

Turns out you should try get married between the ages of 25-34...

Wolfing says that his research shows "someone who marries at 25 is over 50 percent less likely to get divorced than is someone who weds at age 20", while his data analysis shows that "prior to age 32 or so, each additional year of age at marriage reduces the odds of divorce by 11 percent. However, after that the odds of divorce increase by 5 percent per year."

Young married couples often lack the maturity to make it last, while older couples can bring past baggage with them to the new relationship. 

"Does the experience of staying unmarried well past the age of 30 somehow make people unfit for a lasting marriage? It’s possible to envision a scenario where this might be the case, particularly in the form of a complicated relationship history. 

"If you’ve had many boyfriends or girlfriends, your exes might play havoc with your marriage. They may offer the temptation of adultery. If you’ve had children with one or more of your exes, there could be 'baby mama drama'."

Hmm. We're all for science but surely marriage is a completely individual thing?
