Schitt's Creek - what a show! Although the clueless characters spent most of their time in a motel in the middle-of-nowhere town, the series starts off with them getting evicted from a
stunning mansion.
And that mansion is now up for sale in real life. 30 Fifeshire Rd, Toronto, has gone on the market for just under C$15m. I mean, don't we all have that lying around?
The home in which the affluent Rose family resided before moving to the fictional town that gives the show its name has pretty much everything you would expect in a millionaire's mansion, including 12 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms. Now, you might be thinking, who on earth needs this many bedrooms. What's even funnier is that it's listed as a 'single-family' home on
Zillow. Oh, how the other half lives.
The three-story home spans 24,000 square feet, with frescoes seen in nearly every room, inspired by the Sistine Chapel. When entering the house, you're met with a grand marble staircase, balustrade balconies and limestone bannisters and pillars. There's also a wine cellar, a private movie theatre, golf simulator, a banquet hall, two swimming pools and parking space for 14 cars. Finally, somewhere for my 14 cars.
Schitt's Creek began with moderate success but eventually grew into one of the most successful comedy series of the last decade. Having started in 2015, the show ran for six seasons. At the 2020 Primetime Emmys, its sixth season was nominated for 15 awards and took home nine. Schitt's Creek gained particular traction with international audiences when it arrived on Netflix in 2017.
Created by and starring father and son duo Eugene and Dan Levy, the show was applauded by audiences and critics alike for its dry humour, character growth and representations of LGBTQ+ identities.
