PIC: Is This The Most Stereotypical Irish Sign In The Country?

While we've always though that a love of leprechauns was something reserved only for naive Americans who think all Irish people can play the fiddle and know their ancestors in Clare, it seems the EU loves the little divils too.

A Reddit user spotted a sign on Carlingford Mountain in Louth that reminded us of the seriously random fact that in 2010 leprechauns were actually granted protection by the European Union.

Swear.

And this sign on the mountain has got to be the most 'Oirish' thing we've ever laid eyes on...

It reads: "Plants, Wild Animals and Leprechauns are protected in this area. Please tread lightly.

"Hunters and fortune seekers will be prosecuted."

Only in Ireland would an official sign like that be installed... Guess we know where to go searching for that pot of gold!
