One Contestant Just Made The Worst Mistake Possible On The Rose Of Tralee

It might seem all sweetness and light but The Rose Of Tralee is one of the most fiercely competitive contests out there.

After fighting it out for a place on the live shows, all of the Roses are dead set on making the most of their five minutes with Mr Dáithí Ó Sé.

There are certain boxes you have to tick - say nice things about your parents, outline your tenuous links to Ireland in minute detail, sing a song even if you haven't a note in your head etc - and knowing your regional geography is definitely one of them.

Spare a thought then for the poor Western Canada Rose, who made the mortal mistake of saying that Ireland was *gasp* in the UK during her interview.

Needless to say, people were not impressed.

She turned things around at the end with a cúpla focail and an Irish jig so maybe the judges won't notice...
